E. Outcome: categories of different level knowledge of Iodized salt.
F. Procedure: cross sectional study design will be applied to achieve above mentioned objectives.
G. Study period: three months
H. Study subject/sample size: study population will be adults aged between 18 to 60 years. Sample size is calculated using epi-info software, considering the following parameters
a. Type one error of 0.05
b. Bound on the error of 0.05
c. Good knowledge regarding iodized salt of 0.5, it will give as maximum variation and will have maximum sample size
d. Design effect of 2 will be considered, (as we are using multistage cluster sampling technique need to consider design effect).
e. The total sample size is 770
f. Sampling technique: as our target area is two districts of Nangarhar province, proportionate to district size sample size will be distributed among two districts. Four villages will be randomly selected from surkhrood district’s frame of villages, and four small geographical units will be randomly selected from the small geographical unit frame of the city. Assign number of household will be selected from each area using random technique.
I. Data collection tool: Structured questionnaire will be used for data collection.
J. Data management: data will be edited twice, once in the field and once when data reached to the office. Data entry will be done twice, and will be cross checked for errors, and errors will be corrected referring back to original questionnaires.
K. Data analysis: data analysis will be done in SPSS software. Proportions will be calculated for nominal and ordinal variables, and mean and standard deviation for continuous data. Chi-square and t-tests will be used as per type to data. P-value of 0.05 will be considered significant.
L. Administrative elements: need to put timeline of activities, how to operate the study. and study budget
M. Responsibilities, it’s up to PI who will decide JD for staff.
• Principle investigator
• Co-investigator
N. Reporting/publish: report will be developed and results will be published in relevant journal.
Thank you
