The Rotary International Funded Study "Quantification of Risk of TB Transmission among Pediatric Households of Adult Smear Positive and ExtraPulmonary TB Cases" was finally launched at Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar on May the 26th, 2008.
The Study is a collaboration between Department of Pediatrics, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar, Abaseen Foundation Rurual Health Centre, Nahaqi, Peshawar and Rotray International, Pisgah Forest USA. The luanching ceremony was followed by orientation session for study physicians and technicians. Prof Nadeem Khawar, Prof Mukhtiar Zaman Afridi, and Dr Nayyar R. Kazmi presided over the ceremony and explained the study protocol and objectives.
The study aims to enroll 100 Sputum Positive and 100 Extra Pulmonary TB cases annd screen their pediatric household contacts for TB by employing Kenneth Jones Criteria.
