    Dear Sir,

If the again and again monthly Polio Eradication Campaigns are so necessary for the development of immunity in under 5 years children, why not the WHO and Health department conduct Polio NIDs on weekly basis to develop the immunity in children 1000 % ...........
Secondly, the unicef have launched Polio Awareness campaign in Peshawar, why not they do such activity in the 80% unaware rural areas/population of FATA/PAKISTAN.

    Dear Feroz Shah

Weekly immunizations are not going to help because the immune system takes at least a month to develop antibodies as well as cellular immunity, and at this level booster doses can help boost up the immunity.

The problem is Pakistan is almost 50% of children under 5 years are suffering from secondary immunodeficiency thanks to malnutrition. Among these 5-8% are suffering from severe malnutrition and immunodeficiency and live polio vaccines in such childrens can, not only play havoc with them, rather they become reservoirs of genetically modified strains, which recirculate in the community causing polio among susceptible children.

As far as FATA is concerned, almost whole of FATA has become the most dangerous place on the earth, and in every NID some people are abducted or slaughtered in FATA. So due to security reasons, they cant start such campaigns in FATA.

Rest of polio campaigns have an economic dimensions too, and everyone from WHO, Unicef down to EDO's and vaccinators are getting their share. Who wants to kick his bread.
