Hard Work for Exams. Yours or Mine

After 03 weeks of hard work in sizzling heat of Ramazan, my hard work has paid off and finally I have made the Examination papers to thoroughly test the concepts of my enthusiastic and intelligent students.
The only question is now to see whether you have worked more harder than me or I have worked more harder than you.
I hope my students will beat me in hardwork

OK here goes a brain teaser for exam.

Riffat Anjum has invented a new test for detection of hypothyroidism, which has a sensitivity of 0.8 and specificity of 0.85. Arshad Nadeem has recommended that this test be adopted by the Health Department of KPK. In this regard, a team comprising of Shehla Safdar and Naeem Durrani have been assigned to conduct trials of the test.
They decide to conduct this test in Abasyn. a total of 1200 are screened.
1. How many will test Negative if the prevalence of Hypos in 50% ( it is much more but we are being conservative here).
2. Suppose Arif tests Positive on this test. What would be the probability that this test is wrong

630 will test negative (510 will be true negative and 120 will be false negative).

2. Suppose Arif tests Positive on this test. What would be the probability that this test is wrong

There is 15.8% chance that the test will be false positive.

Shafiq is brilliant. He did it. Ironically not a single hypothyroid who have epidemiology paper next week tried to solve it or were interested to solve. Inshallah all of them will fail by the grace of Almighty God

Result of screening having hypo not having hypo total

Positive a= 480 b=90 570

Negative c= 120 d=510 630

Total a+c= 600 b+d= 600 1200

Ans: 630

2: Suppose Arif tests Positive on this test. What would be the probability that this test is wrong

Ans: False negatives are 90 people, so there is a probability that Arif's test is 15% wrong.

Correction= in Ans no 2 i have written false negatives are 90 people sorry it is False positive.
