    1) Probability
is the likelihood or chance that something is the case or will happen. Probability theory is used extensively in areas
    such as statistics,
    mathematics,
    science and philosophy
to draw conclusions about the likelihood of potential events and the underlying
    mechanics of complex systems.

    2) Probability
is the branch of mathematics that studies the possible outcomes of given events
together with the outcomes' relative likelihoods and distributions. In common
usage, the word "probability" is used to mean the chance that a
particular event (or set of events) will occur expressed on a linear scale from
0 (impossibility) to 1 (certainty), also expressed as a percentage between 0 and
100%. The analysis of events governed by probability is called statistics.

Concept of Probability and Probability Distribution Concept of Probability and Probability Distribution Abhijit Kar Gupta This lecture note, originally prepared for the geography students, is a brief introduction on the subject. The approach is kept simple and examples are given.
