Epidemiology: Exam Question Practice

OK here goes a brain teaser for exam.

Our extraordinary brilliant student Riffat Anjum has invented a new test for detection of hypothyroidism, which has a sensitivity of 0.8 and specificity of 0.85. Arshad Nadeem Awan has recommended that this test be adopted by the Health Department of KPK. In this regard, a team comprising of Shehla Safdar and Naeem Durrani have been assigned to conduct trials of the test. They decide to conduct this test in Abasyn. a total of 1200 stduents are screened.

Questions:

1. How many will test Negative if the prevalence of Hypos in 50% ( it is much more but we are being conservative here).

2. Suppose Arif and Matiullah tests Positive on this test. What would be the probability that this test is wrong

so no one is able to be awarded with nobel prize.Mr Liaquat no need to come thanks.

Already Shafiq did it right in the first place thou he is no more our student. However Izzatullah did it late but his answers are correct. Liaqat would be handing over Noble Prize soon
